WASHINGTON, D.C. - The International Ironworkers Union and IMPACT, its affiliated joint labor-management trust, are pleased to announce the release of new hands-on training materials for Ironworker local unions. The materials, including mockup construction models and an updated training manual, focus on aspects of architectural and ornamental ironworking and provide important guidelines to help guarantee the safety of construction sites.

The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers, through support from IMPACT and the National Training Fund, releases updated training materials to improve crane safety.

IMPACT Conducts Pilot Seminar "The Ironworkers as Salesman," a First-of-Its-Kind Training for Local Leaders

It is no secret that the construction marketplace is becoming greener and that green buildings are becoming more common place. Recognizing that this is one area that may help our members secure more work, IMPACT will now reimburse the fees associated with taking and passing a LEED credential exam.

IMPACT has established a partnership with the Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Oklahoma City to meet the growing demand for certified workers in the wind turbine market by providing just-in-time training for Ironworkers and signatory contractors.

IMPACT is pleased to announce two new training courses designed for our member contractors. These courses are being offered as part of the 27th Annual Ironworker Instructors Training Program held in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The annual program offers courses for instructors, training coordinators and business managers. This year, for the first time, courses are available for our member contractors at no cost.

IMPACT Eastern Regional Director, Kevin Byrnes and Ironworkers Local 40/361 Training Director, Bryan Brady, recently invited major East Coast energy utility Con Edison's Department Manager of Construction Administrative Services, Denis Smalley, and Building Trade Relations Manager, Mike Perrino, to tour the Locals' training facility.

Walter Wise has been sworn in as the 12th General President of the Ironworkers Union. As his first official duty as General President, Wise swore in Eric Dean as the new General Secretary. Along with General Treasurer Ed McHugh, the new leadership team looks to guide the Union to a brighter tomorrow.

OSHA recently published the new Crane and Derrick Standard Subpart CC. The standard is comprehensive bringing ramifications for contractors, the Ironworkers, several other trades and for our Ironworker training materials.

The Shop Department and the National Training Fund with the support of IMPACT are ready to publish the new training package Training and Fabrication for Shop Ironworkers.
