Industry advocate and noted motivational speaker Mark Breslin launched a never-before-seen seminar called Courageous Leadership: Labor and Management Meet the Challenge at this week’s IMPACT Regional Advisory Board (RAB) III meeting in Columbus, Ohio.  Breslin was just one of many special guests at the event.

“We are excited that RAB III is rounding out a wildly successful RAB meeting season for IMPACT,” CEO Eric Waterman said. “Breslin’s title is an apt description of what we do day in and day out.  It is especially gratifying to provide such a valuable seminar—and a valuable discussion in general—to ironworkers and contractors.”

A veritable Who’s Who of labor and management attended IMPACT’s Regional Advisory Board (RAB) III meeting thanks to a packed itinerary and big-name presenters. 

“It goes to show you how driven people in our region are. They want to take advantage of the products and services the ironworkers offer through IMPACT, our labor-management cooperative,” said George Kratzer, Iron Worker District Council President of Southern Ohio and Vicinity.

“This kind of meeting and the ideas that IMPACT brings to the table are important not only to the general community, but to owners, general contractors, steel erectors and ironworkers,” added Darlaine Taylor, Vice President of Century Steel Erectors. Taylor serves as a region co-chair alongside Kratzer.

Kratzer and Taylor also welcomed a panel of IMPACT representatives, including CEO Eric Waterman, Executive Assistant to the CEO Kevin Hilton, Executive Director of Education and Training Rick Sullivan, Eastern Region Director Kevin Byrnes and Communications Specialist Brennan Gamwell.  The panel discussed the variety of products and services IMPACT provides to both ironworkers and their contractor partners.  Waterman emphasized that every action of IMPACT is geared, either directly or indirectly, to doubling market share by 2021, an audacious goal set by the ironworkers and their contractors. 

Monica Shripka of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) also shared valuable information on AISC erector certification and fielded questions about AISC’s services.
