The off the Job accident program has been a God's send for our injured members and helps them from digging a financial hole. There is a process  of educating the members, following up with the paperwork to the Trust Fund, insuring the member is paid. This extra time is on behalf of the Business Manager but it is worth it.

  • Iron Workers - IMPACT Safety & Health Roundtable

    IMPACT Safety and Health Roundtable was held on December 7, 2016 in Washington, D.C. It featured many new safety and health initiatives to improve safety performance in the workplace. Labor Co-Chairman, Bernie Evers, Management Co-Chairman, William Brown and Secretary Steve Rank welcomed roundtable members and special guest speakers to discuss current safety and regulatory issues. Roundtable members from across the United States meet bi-annually to address workplace safety and health issues that affect the ironworking industry. Special guest speakers addressed the most pressing workplace safety and health issues and members across the United States including plant owners and contractors weighed in.

    The ironworkers’ union training centers collectively spend between $80 million and $90 million a year in training. Our doors are always open, and we handle 50,000 applications annually, with more coming each year. We average 3,000 to 6,000 graduates a year.

  • Earn As You Learn With No College Debt

    Themed, “Earn while you learn with no college debt,” The Metro Construction Career Expo was held at the Belle-Clair Fairgrounds, 200 South Belt East, Belleville, Ill. An estimated 700 students from St. Clair, Madison and Monroe Counties – more than 30 schools – visited with their schools during the day and gained hands-on-experience as they participated in interactive activities at booths manned by representatives of the various trades, including painters, carpenters, cement masons, electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, laborers, ironworkers, sheet metal workers, operating engineers and plasterers.

  • National Apprenticeship Week is Here!

    We are happy to participate in the Department of Labor's National Apprenticeship Week (NAW). Several local unions are taking part in various NAW events throughout this week. We have submitted this video telling our apprenticeship story and a blog from the Executive Director of Apprenticeship and Training, Lee Worley, about the skilled labor shortage and Iron Workers' role in the workforce development efforts.
