Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust

Expanding Job Opportunities for Ironworkers and their Contractors

The off the Job accident program has been a God's send for our injured members and helps them from digging a financial hole. There is a process  of educating the members, following up with the paperwork to the Trust Fund, insuring the member is paid. This extra time is on behalf of the Business Manager but it is worth it.

Sincerely,
Michael L. Baker

Final beam of PDX's new concourse hoisted into place

PORTLAND, Ore. – Crews are one step closer to finishing the first expansion at the Portland International Airport in more than 20 years.

Iron and steel workers hoisted the final steel I-beam to the highest point on the new building and set it in place.

An American flag and a Douglas fir tree were mounted to the top of the beam as it was raised into place, honoring the workers who worked to put the framework of “Concourse E” into place.

“This will be the new home of Southwest Airlines passengers,” said Kama Simonds, a spokesperson for the Port of Portland. "There’s gonna be six new gates, and they’re gonna find some really neat things on the concourse when it’s all finished. More comfortable seating, more places to charge cell phones and laptops and all the things we hear travelers saying ‘we need more of that.’”

"Concourse E" is just one of five major projects taking place at PDX that will cost a total of $2 billion.

It's expected to open in the summer of 2020.
