Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust

Expanding Job Opportunities for Ironworkers and their Contractors

The off the Job accident program has been a God's send for our injured members and helps them from digging a financial hole. There is a process  of educating the members, following up with the paperwork to the Trust Fund, insuring the member is paid. This extra time is on behalf of the Business Manager but it is worth it.

Sincerely,
Michael L. Baker
President
Iron Workers District Council of North Central States

Iron Worker's Message to Hospital Patient Warms Hearts

MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa.
 - The window of 87-year-old Gloria Porter's room at Frick Hospital in Mount Pleasant faces a construction site, and apparently she likes to watch the work.

While she probably thought no one would notice, one of the workers from Century Steel did notice the woman at the window on Thursday, and decided to send her a message.

Jeff Reich, who is an iron worker, wrote “Get Well” in chalk on one of the beams.

When Porter saw it, she responded with a message of her own, reminding him and the other workers to “Stay Safe.”

Excela Health, which owns the hospital, shared photos of both messages on Facebook, where they have collected nearly 2,000 likes and have been shared hundreds of times.

As one of the comments pointed out, it is especially touching because Friday is National Random Act of Kindness Day, which is celebrated by individuals, groups and organizations.
