Workers and families are impacted when employers misclassify employees as independent contractors. The New Hampshire Department of Labor has agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Labor Department.
“Misclassification of employees deprives workers of rightfully-earned wages and workplace protections and undercuts law-abiding businesses,” said Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez. “Combating misclassification is one of several important strategies to promote shared prosperity to help ensure that our economy works for everyone.”
Georgia is looking to crack down on misclassification as well. They do not want to sign the MOU, instead, they are making defined standards.
