In celebration of Steel Day on Sept. 28, the Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT) invites visitors to attend an open house to learn how Ironworkers and Ironworker Contractors have become a powerful force for innovation and productivity in the construction industry. To illustrate these achievements, IMPACT representatives will be giving tours of their Washington facility, showcasing the extensive Ironworker training materials and guiding attendees through a comprehensive, interactive history of the organization, illustrating how Ironworkers have shaped—and continue to shape—the country’s infrastructure and cityscapes. Tours are available between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
“Steel Day gives us not only the opportunity to showcase what we do, but also how we create value for the entire construction industry,” said Kevin Hilton, IMPACT CEO. “We invite anyone interested in our work to learn more about how we provide good jobs to members, construct buildings using cutting-edge techniques and stimulate the economy by focusing on local training and Contractor support.”
Steel Day is an annual event sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), its members and partners, and is held at local venues across the U.S. to showcase how the structural steel industry contributes to building America. The Sept. 28 event brings together architects, engineers, contractors and students in one of the largest educational and networking venues focusing on steel construction.
As concerns over the economy linger, building professionals want to reduce their risk and control their costs more than ever. Increasingly they also need to be sensitive to the environmental impacts of their projects. This event will highlight how building with structural steel is a very effective strategy for meeting these goals and ensuring a successful project is delivered on time and on budget.
