Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust

Expanding Job Opportunities for Ironworkers and their Contractors

The off the Job accident program has been a God's send for our injured members and helps them from digging a financial hole. There is a process  of educating the members, following up with the paperwork to the Trust Fund, insuring the member is paid. This extra time is on behalf of the Business Manager but it is worth it.

Sincerely,
Michael L. Baker

Omaha Contractors Hail Revised IMPACT Drug Testing Program

06/22/2012

OMAHA, NEB. - The Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT) held its latest in a series of locally focused Ironworker/Contractor meetings at Iron Workers Local No. 21, Omaha, Neb., earlier this week, and welcomed nearly 20 regional Contractor partners to the table.  IMPACT has conducted meetings this summer throughout the Rocky Mountain region, which includes the Iron Workers District Council of the Rocky Mountain Area.

IMPACT’s new and improved drug testing program emerged as a particularly relevant topic for the Contractors meeting in Omaha.  “There are some issues with duplicate testing, but now that most Contractors are on board with IMPACT’s program, Ironworkers don’t have to repeat tests whenever they change jobsites,” said Mike Baker, Business Manager for Local Union No. 21, Omaha, Neb.

IMPACT launched its revised drug testing program June 1 of this year in an effort to streamline the drug testing process.  The IMPACT program maintains reciprocity with the National Building Trades Substance Abuse program, the Boilermaker’s MOST program, Detroit’s MUST program, along with many others nationwide.  This allows Ironworkers in those pre-existing programs to be recognized within the IMPACT program without the need for expensive or inconvenient repeat testing.

“We provide our contractors with trained, drug-free Ironworkers,” said Kevin Hilton, IMPACT CEO.  “The revised IMPACT drug testing program exemplifies our commitment to testing our workers efficiently and effectively, and I’m glad contractors in Omaha had the opportunity to learn about this incredible program.”  One hundred percent of Ironworkers undergo drug testing before admittance to a construction jobsite.

IMPACT will continue to hold regional meetings with North American Ironworkers and Contractors throughout the fall.  These meetings serve as important venues for Ironworkers and Contractors to share ideas and discuss relevant issues in the construction industry.
