WASHINGTON - The Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT) has a few strategies in mind when it comes to doubling market share for the Iron Workers and their Contractors by 2020: Train Contractors to be the best of the best, help them be safe and make money, and finally, make sure they’re taking advantage of all cutting-edge technologies available in the construction industry. Last summer, IMPACT watched their strategies come to life when more than 60 eager Contractors packed never-before-offered Contractor Courses in Ann Arbor, Mich., and again this winter in Las Vegas. Now IMPACT is pleased to offer a third round of its incredibly popular Contractor Courses, July 17 – 19, at the Ironworker Instructor Training Program at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Mich.
“When we first offered Contractor Courses at last year’s training program, we held two day-long, hands-on courses,” said Eric Waterman, CEO of IMPACT. “After a surge in interest throughout the Ironworker community, we’ve doubled the number of courses to four, including a three-day course on Building Information Modeling (BIM).”
This year’s courses will include: “Cost Estimating and Bidding are Not Rock Science” (July 17), which focuses on recognizing total costs of jobs and using technology to improve the estimating process. “Effective Project Management” (July 18) hones in on management and leadership skills. “Getting Paid” (July 19) addresses the ins and outs of cash flow.
IMPACT is also pleased to announce “Using Graphical Models to Manage Steel Erection” (July 17 – 19), a never-before-offered BIM course developed by experts at Tekla, Inc.
“Mobile and graphics technologies are becoming infinitely easier to use,” said Rick Sullivan, Director of Education and Training for IMPACT. “We hope this course will inspire our Contractors to take the plunge and join the construction industry’s technology revolution.”
