For the first time, the Ironworkers are offering a New Coordinator Course as part of the Annual Ironworker Instructors Training Program. The foundation for this 20-hour course will be the revised version of the Ironworker Apprenticeship and Training Programs: A Guide for Coordinators and Directors. The guide was developed to be a comprehensive resource to help coordinators manage a Local Union apprenticeship program.
The guide's development involved new and experienced coordinators from throughout the International to ensure it encompassed all the essential information. Each of the 10 original modules have been updated, while 6 new modules have been added.
The 6 new modules include:
- Meeting the Fiduciary Responsibilities of the Apprenticeship Program
- Managing Apprentice Participation
- Protecting Instructor Liability
- Preparing for the Ironworker Apprenticeship Certification Program
- Organizing and the Apprenticeship Program
- Using the Outlook Web Access
The 26th Annual Ironworker Instructor Training Program will take place at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan July 13–23, 2010.
