MPACT has initiated a new Off the Job Accident Disability Plan for Ironworker members. The IMPACT Plan is specifically designed to address off the job accidents. Member's current Health and Welfare plans provide a limited short term disability benefit in the event of sickness or accident off the job. This new IMPACT benefit will supplement the Short Term Accident benefits of a member's current Health and Welfare plan, and the two accident benefits will combine to provide the maximum benefit possible at no extra cost to the member. The IMPACT Plan is set to start November 1st 2009.
Currently, the Ironworker District Councils of Chicago & Vicinity, Rocky Mountain Area and St. Louis & Vicinity have chosen to participate in the IMPACT Off the Job Accident Disability Plan. Ironworker members are eligible for this plan if they are currently eligible under their local union Health and Welfare plan.
In addition to the benefits of the IMPACT Off the Job Accident Disability Plan, in the event of accidental death, the new program will provide the participants' beneficiary $5,000 of Accidental Death & Dismemberment benefits.
Benefits of the IMPACT Plan are provided by Chartis, an A+ rated insurer and leader in disability benefits.
