This year celebrates the 25th Annual Ironworker Instructor Training Program, which takes place July 19-24, 2009 at the University of San Diego. Last year, the training program included over 700 participants and guests from across the United States and Canada. This year's program is shaping up to promise just as substantial of a turnout.
During the past 25 years, Local Union apprenticeship coordinators, directors and instructors have attended over 300,000 hours of training-and the tradition continues in 2009. The program ensures that Ironworker Local Unions have qualified instructors and coordinators capable of developing skilled Ironworkers to meet the needs of their signatory employers and contractors
Each year the Ironworkers National Training Fund and IMPACT upgrade existing courses and develop new courses for its coordinators and instructors.
2009 includes several new and revised courses:
- Conveyors and Industrial Maintenance
- Miscellaneous Architectural and Ornamental Ironworking (New training package)
- Politics and Civic Participation
- Ironworkers Apprentice Tracking System
By providing its membership the most up-to-date training available, the Ironworkers ensure their preparedness in an increasingly competitive marketplace and guarantee their reputation as the most skilled, well-trained workforce in the construction industry.
