The National Safety Council Annual Congress & Expo was held September 22-24, 2008 in Anaheim, California. The annual meeting has been North America's largest event serving the safety industry for almost 100 years. The event consists of more than 130 Technical Sessions, over 35 Professional Development Seminars, 190,000 net square feet of exhibit space, over 800 exhibitors and 15,000 total participants.
The National Safety Council serves as the nation's leading resource on industry trends, professional development, and strategies for advancing safety and health programs and practices. The Council is active in converting injury research and trends information into injury prevention education, training, consultation and advocacy leadership.
This year, Robert Banks, IMPACT's Eastern Regional Director, participated with the Labor Department and Private Industry at the National Safety Council meeting. The "Drug Free Workplace Success; Safety Depends on It" workshop was designed to help managers and supervisors gain understanding and confidence in fulfilling their role in implementing a Drug Free Workplace Program. The IMPACT Drug and Alcohol Program was well received by all participants.
